William Nix will serve as a Judge, for the third year in a row, in the Sixteenth Annual Pepperdine School of Law Entertainment Law Moot Court Competition, being held on November 9th-10th at Pepperdine's Malibu Campus. Teams from law schools all across the country argue will argue novel entertainment law issues before some of the best entertainment lawyers in Los Angeles. Creative Projects Group®, and the members of Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet biographical feature film creative team, welcome internationally acclaimed author and media critic, Dr. Jack G. Shaheen as a Production Advisor (see: www.thegibranfilm.com). Dr. Shaheen is a Pittsburgh native, is a committed internationalist and a devoted humanist. 
Shaheen, a CBS News Consultant on Middle East Affairs from 1993-98, also served as a professional film consultant. He served as a consultant with the award-winning documentary, Umm Kulthum: A Voice of Egypt (1996), he has also worked with writers and producers of feature films such as writer-director Steve Gaghan on Syriana (2005); and producer Chuck Roven on Three Kings (1999).
Creative Projects Group®, and the members of the This is Ragtime creative team, welcome Robert Santelli, Executive Director of the Grammy® Museum, Mitchell Block, award-winning documentarian, and Phil Schaap, Curator of Jazz at Lincoln Center, to their Board of Advisors. These individuals have outstanding media backgrounds in music, film and television production and performances, as well as the history behind such works. William Nix is a featured speaker at the 2013 American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) National Convention in Washington, D.C. His presentation will provide attendees with both a cultural and a historical perspective on Kahlil Gibran. It will also cover forthcoming film, art exhibition, art book and graphic novel publications, including transmedia/educational initiatives, involving Gibran's life story, his artistic works and his message to the world.

William Nix will be presenting and moderating a Panel on Piracy vs. Privacy: How to Balance Rights in an Era of Online Copyright Infringement at the 4th Anti-Piracy and Content Protection Summit on June 26, 2013 in Los Angeles. The Panel will present an overview on Digital Search and Seizure Procedures and Litigation, Domestic (SOPA, PIPA) and International (ACTA) Developments and Initiatives as well as practical drafting guidance in respect to Privacy Disclosures, Mobile Apps, and Social Media, including tips for compliance with the new FTC and California Attorney General's Office Guidelines in these areas.
The Production team of This Is Ragtime, based on Terry Waldo's Jazz at Lincoln Center Library Edition book of the same title,is holding an event in New York City, on Thursday, May 16th, in order to introduce the music program they are developing together. It will be an opportunity to meet the team of producers and talent behind this TV program. The program will tell the largely unknown story of America’s first great original music, which preceded the Jazz era. It is targeted to be part of PBS’ Great Performances series and distributed worldwide. The creative team includes Terry Waldo, Music Supervisor, Featured Performer Writer/Producer; Charles Hobson, Producer; Janice Lee, Producer, and William Nix, Executive Producer. Wynton Marsalis is serving as an Advisor, and will also be a Featured Musician in the program. Former Senator, Alan Simpson is an Advisor to the Producers, as well. On April 19th, the Students in Professor Nix and Phillips' Straus Institute Entertainment Dispute Resolution Course were given a VIP Tour of the Warner Bros. Studio Lot in Burbank, California. They saw Film/TV sound stages (The Mentalist, 2 1/2 Men, Mike & Molly), the back-lot streets with sets used for The Music Man and The Waltons, the Paris cafe from Casablanca, as well as more recent productions. 
They also toured the Studio's museum with Batmobile, Get Smart and other cars from its films, the costume museum (Harry Potter, Batman), and saw a wide array of props from different eras (Hunger Games to The West Wing).
